In the January/February 2008 Volume 29(1) issue of Geriatric Nursing, the article for the Assisted Living column titled “Resident Condition Change: Should I Call 911?” indicates the Joint Commission's National Patient Safety Goals include a standardized communication structure for health care facilities. This article described that communication as “hands-off.” The correct terminology is “hand-off” communication.

The authors regret the error.
